Iron Casting Reaction Series- Casting iron into a wood mold ignites an exploding shower of sparks followed by burning wood slowly revealing metal- a merging of performance with form.  The virulent reaction of molten metal filling a void encased in timber results in unplanned, organic textures, layers, and cold shuts within a specific, desired form. This “Reaction Series” of cast iron art examines the relationship between the human and natural world experiences of cause and effect, seeking order within chaos, and recognizing serendipity amongst objection.
